UserManagemeNT modules and licenses

The following modules and configurations of UserManagemeNT exist:

UserManagemeNT Lite

UserManagemeNT Lite is the version of UserManagemeNT you can use to create users, shares, mailboxes and so on. UserManagemeNT Lite is a FREE tool. If you have a demo version of other functions in UserManagemeNT, and the demo period has been expired, you can still use the functions of UserManagemeNT Lite to create users. Note that with UserManagemeNT Lite, not all features to create users are available: You cannot use Windows 2000 or Active Directory specific functionality. Further you cannot specify Windows Terminal Server settings for new user accounts.

UserManagemeNT Professional

UserManagemeNT Professional contains the modules to move users’ resources, remove users and search permissions. These features correspond with the main tabs Move users’ resources, Manage passwords, Remove user and Search permissions. UserManagemeNT Professional is licensed based on the total number of users you are managing with UserManagemeNT. This is the total number of users in all domains you are managing with UserManagemeNT. UserManagemeNT Professional further supports Windows 2000, Active Directory and Windows Terminal Server.

UserManagemeNT Import

The UserManagemeNT Import function is licensed based on the total number of users you are managing with UserManagemeNT. This is the total number of users in all domains you are managing with UserManagemeNT. (In versions prior to version 5.3, build 1777, the licensing policy of UserManagemeNT Import was different. For these versions, UserManagemeNT Import is licensed by the total number of users you import with UserManagemeNT. In most circumstances, this corresponds with the total number of users in your network.)

UserManagemeNT Delegation

With UserManagemeNT Delegation, users that have no administrative access to manage user accounts can get delegated access rights to fulfill specific administrative tasks. For instance, a user account that is not a member of any administrative group (Administrators, Account operators) can be granted the permission to reset passwords of certain users only. Part of UserManagemeNT Delegation is the UserManagemeNT Delegation command line interface. This command line interface can be used to perform basic user management operation from a command line. See Command line interface for more information.

License codes

The UserManagemeNT license code contains information regarding purchased modules, registration name and so on. The UserManagemeNT license code is a 30-digit code and has the form:

 12345-67890-12345-67890-12345-67890.

You can obtain a valid license code from your UserManagemeNT reseller, or you can contact the UserManagemeNT WWW-site: http://www.tools4nt.com. When you install the UserManagemeNT software for the first time, and you do not specify a license code, the demo version is installed. You can specify the license code and associate registration name during the setup of UserManagemeNT or in the main tab About of the UserManagemeNT application. For UserManagemeNT Delegation, you need a separate license code, specified when you install the UserManagemeNT Delegation service .

Demo versions

UserManagemeNT Lite is a FREE tool. There is no demo version of UserManagemeNT Lite, since it is for FREE and it never expires. Other modules of UserManagemeNT, e.g. UserManagemeNT Professional, UserManagemeNT Import and UserManagemeNT Delegation must be purchased. For these modules, demo versions exist. These are installed automatically if you install UserManagemeNT Lite. These demo versions are fully functional for unlimited users and run for 28 days.

License combination codes

The license code contains information regarding the registered company name, the module configuration, demo period and so on. If you purchase UserManagemeNT, you can get a license code for one of the following module configurations:

UserManagemeNT Professional

UserManagemeNT Import

UserManagemeNT Professional + Import

For both UserManagemeNT Professional and UserManagemeNT Import, a user count restriction applies. See UserManagemeNT User count for more information. Note that the user count can be different for the Professional en Import module. For UserManagemeNT Delegation, a separate license code is required. See Delegation service installation (advanced settings) and Delegation service settings for more information.
