To specify a single user attribute shown in the window User attributes and properties you need to use the dialog described in this section. To start this dialog, active the window to configure the User attributes and properties window (see Specifying user attributes and properties ) and press the Add or Edit button. The Specify field dialog is shown. The window contains the following items:
Field type specification
Windows 2000, Active Directory attribute
Select this option if the attribute must become a Windows 2000 Active Directory attribute. This is the case if you want to be able to specify an Active Directory attribute or property for new user accounts. For instance, a phone number or home addresses information. The contents of other window items depend on this selection.
UserManagemeNT keyword (variable)
Select this option if you want to specify an extra variable. See User attributes and properties for more information. The contents of other window items depend on this selection.
Field definition specification
Field name
In this field you can specify the name of the field. This name is shown in the User attributes and properties window. In case you’ve specified the option Windows 2000, Active Directory attribute the list associated with this field shows all standard pre-configure Active Directory attributes. You can select an entry from this list of specify another entry contained in the Active Directory schema. In case you’ve specified the option UserManagemeNT keyword (variable) you can specify any name.
LDAP display name / Keyword
The introduction text of this item depends on the Field type specification selection.
If you have selected the option Windows 2000, Active Directory attribute, and you have selected an entry from the list Field name, this field shows the LDAP-display-name automatically. You should not change the LDAP-display-name of the pre-configured attributes if you are not absolutely sure about the changed value. If the LDAP-display-name is not correctly specified, UserManagemeNT will not be able to specify the attribute. The LDAP-display-name is specified in the Active Directory schema.
If you have selected the option UserManagemeNT keyword (variable), you should specify the name of the keyword as you want to use it in the different attribute specification fields. By default, UserManagemeNT will generate a specification for the field which starts and end with the %-character with the name of the Field in capitals in between. Example: If you want to create a keyword for the Building of a new user account you should specify the following:
Field name: Building
Keyword: %BUILDING%
In one or more user attribute specifications, you can use the keyword %BUILDING%. When a value is specified in the User attributes and properties window for the field Building, this value replaces the keyword %BUILDING% in the attribute specifications.
Field content specification
Default value
The default value for the current field. This value is also used to determine the width of the field in the User attributes and properties window.
Mandatory field (Value must be specified)
If this option is enabled, you must specify a value for this field when creating a new user account. If no value is specified, UserManagemeNT will ask you to do so.
Show default value
Enable this option if the Default value must be displayed. Note that the Default value is also used to determine the width of the field in the User attributes and properties window. By specifying a Default value and disabling this option, the width of the field is up-to-date but empty when shown initially.
