Configure task: Create user

You can configure several options regarding the main tab “Create user”. To configure these options, select the main tab Configure. Press button Configure tasks and select tab Create user. A window is shown with the following options:

 

Template must be selected to create user

Select this option if you do not want to create a user without specifying a users template for the user. For more information on user templates see User templates . If you enable this option, you will be prompted to select the user template when you press the Apply button on the main tab Create user if you did not select a user template.

 

Home server must be selected to create user

Select this option if you do not want to create a user without creating a home directory for this user. For more information on home directories, see Home directory. If you enable this option, you will be prompted to select the user template when you press the Apply button on the main tab Create user if you did not select a home server for the user.

 

Create user options

Specify profile directory in NT user database (SAM,AD)

Select the option if you want to specify the user profile directory for new user accounts. This specification is stored in the SAM (NT 4.0) or Active Directory database (Windows 2000).

 

Create specified profile directory

Select this option if you want UserManagemeNT to create the profile directory for new user accounts. Note that you can select this option even if the specified directory is not stored as a user attribute (see previous option).

 

Specify home directory in user database (SAM,AD)

Select the option if you want to specify the user home directory for new user accounts. This specification is stored in the SAM (NT 4.0) or Active Directory database (Windows 2000).

 

Create specified home directory

Select this option if you want UserManagemeNT to create the home directory and private share (when specified) for new user accounts. Note that you can select this option even if the specified directory is not stored as a user attribute (see previous option).

 

Additional user properties

Enable user properties window

Select this option if you want to enable to User attributes and properties window. The User attributes and properties window is used to specify additional information when creating user accounts.

 

Activate first field when ‘Tab’ pressed in field

The User attributes and properties windows contains a number of fields. When you create a new user account with UserManagemeNT, you will probably use the Tab key to move the cursor from one field to the next field. In order to continue this procedure with the User attributes and properties window, you can specify which field from the Create user tab comes just before the first field of the User attributes and properties. If you press the Tab key when the cursor is in this field, the cursor will jump to the first field of the User attributes and properties window.

 

Configure user properties window

Press this button to configure the User attributes and properties window.
