Configure task: Active Directory

The Active Directory is used by a number of functions of UserManagemeNT. Several general options regarding Windows 2000 and Active Directory need to be configured. To configure these options, select the main tab Configure. Press the button Configure tasks. Select tab Active Directory. The windows shows the different Windows 2000 – Active Directory options that can be configured.

Enable Active Directory support (available on Windows 2000 platforms only)

This is the general switch to enable or disable the Windows 2000 and Active Directory functionality contained in UserManagemeNT. Unless you use UserManagemeNT Delegation, you can enable this functionality only on platforms that run Windows 2000. If you want to use any Windows 2000 or Active Directory functionality with UserManagemeNT you need to enable this option.

When searching OU’s in domains, include all other containers and well known objects that may contain user accounts

When you configure UserManagemeNT, you need to specify the domains and OU’s and some other objects where new user accounts can be created. With this option, you can specify what types of objects need to be searched for within a domain. Normally you should enable this option. If you do not specify this option, UserManagemeNT will search for organizational units in the domains only. Note that user accounts can be contained in any container, not only in organizational units.
