Description of Features:

FEATURES

Supports all editions of Windows NT - XP - 2000 - 2003
Proactively monitors every server and workstation in today's networks by monitoring event log messages, disk information, performance data, service state information, system processes, SNMP devices, TCP/IP devices/ports and files & directories.

Global Alarm Window
A new alarm window is introduced. The global alarm window presents summary information for all monitored systems. See Global Alarm Window for more information.

Event log collection and archiving
Collect Windows 20003, 2000, XP, and NT event logs such as application and system logs from all servers in your network and store them in a database for statistical and historical reporting usage. Advanced data collection for all types of system resources will be available in the next version of MonitorMagic.

Event log reporting
MonitorMagic comes with several pre-configured monthly and weekly reports for computer overview and security analysis. Existing reports are fully configurable using graphic elements, text items, sub reports, tables and standard SQL Queries. MonitorMagic reports supports both SQL Server 7/2000 and Microsoft Access as a data source.

3D & 2D Graphing
Produce fully customizable high-quality 3D graphs with the same ease-of-use as MonitorMagic's traditional 2D graphs. MonitorMagic's advanced graphing technology is completely scalable and can be modified any way you want to.

Supports monitoring with and without agents
Flexible MonitorMagic agent configurations. For example: Say you have five servers you wish to monitor. You can install a MonitorMagic service on each server to monitor it's own server or you can install one MonitorMagic service and have it monitor all five servers.

Alarm Escalation
Advanced alerting capabilities to ensure the right people are notified. For example: Suppose you want to monitor a critical system. When the system is overloaded, (CPU-load too high) a monitor rule is triggered. Notifications will be sent to the local Administrator of the system. If within 60 minutes, the problem still exists and no one has taken care of the problem, you want to escalate the problem and send an E-mail to your own E-mail account.

Enhanced SNMP support
Now monitor any device that support SNMP, including computer that run other operating systems (Unix, Linux, Novell) and many other types of devices like bridges, routers, hubs, switches and so on.

Enhanced database support
MonitorMagic now supports database storage using Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, and all ODBC compliant databases. MonitorMagic's database can be used to analyze real time server, network, and application performance using it's powerful, but easy to use graphs. The database can also be used to record historical network and application status information for later use.

Provides a web interface without the need to have IIS installed
Flexible monitoring from every location without having to install IIS. MonitorMagic web interface allows administrators to monitor and manage multiple machines. This is a great feature for large networks and consultants.

Supports logging to databases for statistical analysis and trending
MonitorMagic supports all major databases, including SQL Server, MS Access and all other ODBC database. Run detailed event and performance counter reports for historical trending and analysis.

Shipped with predefined rules & monitor policies
Start monitoring in less than 10 minutes. MonitorMagic ships with predefined policies to enable monitoring at application level. These policies contain service, event and performance counter monitor with thresholds based on average network sizes. These policies are available in the policy view of the MonitorMagic client window and can be applied directly to every computer. You can add custom alarm actions to predefined policies.

CUSTOM MONITORS

Event log messages for Windows 2003, 2000, and NT
Event Log Monitoring scans Windows 2003, 2000, NT Event Logs (System, Application, or Security) and triggers alerts when entries are added.

Disk information to report disk usage
Monitor disk space for any disk drive or shared directory for current disk space usage.

Performance data counters (Example: Monitor CPU and Memory usage)
Performance counter monitor is used to check the value and contents of performance counters. MonitorMagic uses a performance counter monitor for each performance counter. MonitorMagic supports all performance counters, including the counters that are part of the operating system, but also the counters that are installed by other applications.

Service state information (Example: Is service XXX Running?)
Monitor critical services to verify they are running or not running.

System processes
Process monitor is used to check specific characteristics of a process. MonitorMagic will create a single process monitor for every process you choose to monitor. You can monitor a selection of processes or a single process. Creating multiple process monitors generates multiple monitored objects. They can be managed together or on an individual basis.

Files & directories
Log File Monitor allows you to monitor the data in specific application log files. For example: Scan backup log files for "Successful Backup" every night. If the words "Successful Backup" do not appear send an alarm to an administrator. Directory monitoring allows you to monitor file count and size within a directory.

Application Monitoring
Monitor specific application by monitoring disk space, performance counters, and processes. For example: Monitor Exchange and SQL server applications.

SNMP devices
Monitor and send alerts to specific SNMP devices.

TCP/IP devices/ports
Ping specific hosts and network devices including ports and website's.

Custom Command Line Command
This monitor can process a custom command line command, i.e. a script or 3rd party utility, and fire all available alerts based on its output. Starting now, we will periodically release new free command line utilities for use with this new monitor type: WebPing (checks if a specified web page exists and responds correctly) and PortPing (checks whether a TCP/IP port is open and responding).

Plugin - Directory size: The directory size plugin determines available disk space, and the size occupied by files, directories and shares. Rules can be triggered when to much disk space is used or the available disk space drops below a configurable minimum. See Plugin - T4eDirSize for more information.

Plugin - SQL query: The SQL query plugin can execute any SQL query to any database. The output of the query can be used to trigger rules, based on various criteria. See Plugin - T4eSql for more information.

ALARM OPTIONS

Alarm Escalation
Escalation is a mechanism used for alarm actions: In MonitorMagic, escalation is supported by means of un-acknowledged rules and specific alarm action settings. With MonitorMagic, detected problems can be escalated when they are not solved or taken care of. The procedure is best described by an example: Suppose you want to monitor a critical system.

Service & Server restart
Specific alarms actions can stop/start services and reboot servers or workstations.

SNMP traps
A SNMP trap is a special SNMP Message that is sent from the MonitorMagic server to specific computers on your network that runs software (called an SNMP manager) that can interpret these messages, and act on them if required.

SMS messages and paging
Send a message to an pager or mobile telephone (SMS).

E-mail and Popup messages
Send customized emails and popup messages using keywords.

Terminate a process
MonitorMagic can stop (kill) processes on local and remote computers.

Command line, script and batch file execution
Execute custom made script and batch file.

Computer reboot
Automatically reboot servers and workstations.
