Alarm Options

Email:

SpaceGuard SRM supports both SMTP and MAPI email. With email support network administrators can send email notifications to end users on the status of their quota automatically via SpaceGuard SRM's alarm action window.

With SpaceGuard SRM's advanced Active Directory integration Exchange 2003 and 2000 email addresses can be extracted from Active Directory. This allows network administrators the ability to customize quota policies with out worrying about email addresses.

Revoke Write Access:

SpaceGuard SRM supports the option to deny write access to the quota's directory for a single user or an entire group of users. When a user or group exceeds their quota limit an network administrator can have SpaceGuard SRM revoke the access rights by setting explicit ' Deny ' write in the directory's ACL. When performing the revoke, the SpaceGuard SRM service will set the new ownership of that directory to " Administrators ".

When a user or group is no longer exceeded their quota, SpaceGuard SRM will revert back to the original access rights and restore the ACL including the owner to its original state. This also happens when deleting a quota that was previously revoked by SpaceGuard SRM.

SpaceGuard SRM supports the option to send event log message to the application event log. With event log messages network administrators can send detailed event message to the computer running the SpaceGuard SRM service.

Example: A end user has gone over their home directory quota. SpaceGuard SRM can send a detail message to the application event log on the computer where the quota is located. Then by using Event Log Archiving found in our MonitorMagic Server Monitoring software package a detailed report can be generated for historical reports.
